Now about the birds and the bees……
Well not so much about the bees, but about the flowers and plants that help to attract them.
We have a couple of dates for your diary that are concerned with our birds and wildflowers (that’s where the bees come in). Both days will be great opportunities to learn about our native birds, wildflowers and wildlife in general, as well as being involved in giving them all a helping hand.
First of all we start with the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch on Sunday 27th January between 10.00am and 12.00.
This is an opportunity to come along and brush up your bird ID skills, and to learn how to help them and attract them to your garden. Do you sometimes hear a bird singing and wish you cold identify it. Well here is an opportunity to get some help with that too. If you have binoculars bring them along, but we do have some to share.
Secondly we have a work session on Saturday 2nd February between 1.00pm and 3.00pm
Our main tasks are to maintain our bird nest boxes to make sure they are in good order ready for spring, and to prepare our wildflower areas ready for the planting of more. We need to make sure those bumble bees and butterflies are well provided for in the coming summer. Once again you can get involved with helping our wildlife and enjoying an afternoons gentle gardening.
Children are welcome to both days but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
