Celebrate our Trees

The Friends of Churchfield are excited to be celebrating National Tree week, which runs from 25th November to 3rd December.

How will we celebrate? We will plant trees of course so why not come along and help us.

The Woodland Trust have graciously supplied Churchfield with three new trees to replace the ones we have sadly had to cut down. We will be planting two new oak trees and one new flowering cherry. Our planting Ceremony will take place at the culmination of National Tree week on Sunday 3rd December, and we will start at 10.00 am. Everyone is welcome to come along.

If you do not fancy helping to plant, then why not help to decorate a tree, because Sunday 3rd December is also the start of Tree Dressing week. We will be dressing the trunks of some of our trees in a variety of knitted and crocheted items. Please feel free to come along and add a colourful ribbon to the branches and take photographs of the finished items. To find out more about tree dressing please click here

And even more tree news:

November 2017 is the 800th anniversary of the Charter of the Forest. To celebrate this the Woodland Trust have launched their new Charter for Trees, Woods and People, and are asking members of the public to sign this as a way of showing support for our much loved trees and woods. These are national assets that we cannot afford to lose. If you want to know more about the Tree Charter or to sign it then please click on the link.
