The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch Came to Churchfield on Sunday 28th January and the feedback from one young participant – “Brilliant.”
Thankfully the weather was kind to us, and so were the birds that came out in force to keep us busy counting (when we weren’t eating snacks of course). A small but enthusiastic group of adults and children had a really enjoyable couple of hours learning how to use binoculars, and a little bit about our different birds.
So what did we see? Amongst other things we had at least 23 Goldfinches, 5 Long – Tailed Tits, 4 Blue Tits, 2 Great Tits, a variety of Robins, Blackbirds, Crows and Jackdaws, Dunnocks, and to cap it all off a stunning Male and Female Bullfinch.
So what about next year? maybe something really special… who knows?
