Bat Walk – A Free Event

The Friends of Churchfield, with the help of Dave Wilde (Denby Dale Countryside Officer), are pleased to announce a free event for anyone interested in our night time wildlife.

We shall be holding a Bat Walk, starting from Churchfields at 9.00pm on Friday 5th July, and anyone is welcome. Please be at Churchfield for 8:45pm for a prompt start.

The walk will last approximately one to one and a half hours, but people can leave anytime they wish.

We have been very fortunate to secure the services of a Seonaidh Jamieson from the RSPB to lead the walk. Seonaidh is both extremely knowledgeable and enthusiatic about all kinds of wildlife and especially bats. So this should prove to be a great opportunity to learn more about these mysterious creatures, and other night time inhabitants of Denby Dale.

We shall have some bat detectors on the night to identify what species we have around, but it may be useful to bring a torch for some of the darker paths.

Obviously the weather will be a crucial element in the walk and cannot take place if there is heavy rain present. Even so please wear suitable boots as some of the paths may be a little wet or muddy.

Please note: Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 5th July
