A Festive Extravaganza!

Skelmanthorpe Training Band in action:

When Sunday morning came, we had some doubts about whether our “Carols with Cake” event would ever go ahead. The weather was looking very Bleak Mid-Winter (pardon the pun). There was a persistent drizzle and a blustery wind, which could have scuppered everything.  But all that changed and we were able to go ahead as planned.

Skelmanthorpe Training Band were superb, playing carol after carol, without a break. Whilst the weather held good, the band played on. The audience were only too willing to join in, singing along in fine voice. Everyone feeling comforted by a variety of tasty cakes and a fruity punch that warmed everyone’s hearts.

We would like to thank everyone who supplied cake, ingredients for the punch, baubles for the tree, and their time to help out on the day. Our thanks go especially to Robert and the Band for coming along and being so entertaining. It was great fun.

In fact, rather than me rabbiting on about it. why not just look at the pictures:

If you missed either our “Picnic in the Park” earlier in the year, and our “Carols with Cake” event, don’t worry. We fully intend to do them both again in 2019.
